    That was more or less my intention. Let's see if there's a different line of thought here, because what I read in last year or so seems to be of different opinion.

    From what I can tell the consensus hasn't changed - yeah sure a western AShM isn't going to sink a BB(Russian supersonic stuff are on a completely different level) but you don't need to sink a BB to put it out of action for a meaningful period of time. But it's been sometime since this question was mentioned much, as you say.
