    Chaos is fucking held back by guardsmen with lasguns at times, chaos cannot be trusted. And the out-of-universe perspective suffers from a DIFFERENT source of unreliability because the codexes all try and make their faction seem like teh best evah and will totes win

    Regular Daemons can be held against guardsmen with lasguns.

    There are Codexes that often downplay their factions. That can be seen in Deathwatch codex, the Tau Codex, and so on.

    The Codexes are about as reliable as anything in Warhammer. Legit as anything.

    Which apparnently you missed: they're arguing the legion of the damned is straight up immune. Not "they have tanked a hive city destroying blast so they can handle that level of firepower", just straight up "immune".

    Pretty much everything else after that is an acerbic note that, if he's going to go "OH BUT THE STORY SAYS THEY"RE IMMUNE SO THEY MUST BE IMMUNE" we have to remember that the narrator could be anywhere from being hyperbolic to being flat out incorrect and misinformed due to 40k canon policy.
