To answer that question in your status/location:

I think the green little triangle thing in the upper left corner of the avatar pictures is supposed to be an indicator showing if that user is online at the moment the page loads or not. The green triangle means they are online and the lack of one means they are not. This is just a guess based on observation and I have not properly confirmed that yet though.
