• Carinthium, for all your faults (and you have a plethora of them), there is none so great as this: You believe that the reason people disagree with you is because of the way in which you argue. It is not.

We appear to be using different definitions of 'concept'. There is no objective reason why a coherent concept in one person's head is epistemically inferior to an incoherent concept in three hundred people's. The coherent concept is more useful because it 'maps' onto an actual thing.

Objective morality and arbitrary morality are contradictory. An Objective morality must exist in some way that makes it more than merely human belief in it. Otherwise it isn't an objective morality.

Finally- how on earth is my rationality based on sentiment? I suspect we need to go into the definition of rationality and sentiment here and Elizier's discussion of emotion, but I want to see what you have to say first.
Also noting that I'm deleting any profile posts with no relevant info whatsoever.
Anybody checking up on me- my new Sig is rather important. I didn't make a thread for fear of being disruptive, but it is.

First of all, it can't be literal as 'brought upon yourself' taken literally is a physical expression.

Second, I only did that in two threads (so close together chronologically I consider it one incident). And that incident has nothing to do with why the mods closed my thread.

There is plenty to still argue about, and it is ridicolous to say otherwise. Anybody with a brain can see that.

I've let things go before. And the shame I felt last time I did it led me to stab myself with a knife. I'm not doing it again.

The sort of idiotic 'rationality' you talk about is like an honour code- a person refrains from doing things, even things in their best interests, because they are 'rational'.

I am a student of LessWrong's epistemic-instrumental rationality distinction. Rationality is about how to know facts and achieve goals, not some code of honourable conduct.

And deleting TvTrope links is exercising LessWrong's rationality how again?

For what it's worth, I think Hume went just slightly too far. But he's right that one's core goals have nothing to do with rationality.
A bit of friendly advice: stop posting threads about your philosophy and focus on that Madoka Magica story you were writing.

It got you largely out of the negative spotlight for a month, is what it did.

What got me out of the negative spotlight was that I was temp-banned. As soon as I wasn't, it returned just as strong as before.

Well, excuse me for not religiously stalking you so I know everything about your past month.

Also, I'm done with these conversations. Please don't engage me again.
Carthy, no one cares what you have to say because you have nothing relevant *to* say and are loudly obnoxious about it. Literally the entire thread thinks that about you at this point,

On your second post- I'd ask you to clarify your standards of argument, but since you're not a philosopher I figure you can't.

I'll try this. What is so flawed about the idea that a person with philosophical training in their memories would actually apply it in their thought process? If Sabrina knows these schools, she should have an opinion as to which is best. Shouldn't she apply that whenever a moral question comes up?
    C
    Carinthium
And yes, to repeat myself, it IS a moral question. All philosophical schools agree on this point. To the Consequentialist, everything is a moral question. To most modern Deontologists or Virtue Ethics overriding somebody's wishes involves a moral question.

Since you've insulted me so much, I should add that your choice of avatar is rather fitting, as you're as stubborn, stupid, and irrational as she is.
