    Something I just noticed when re-reading White Rain for the nth time: one of the themes of the story is how while generations repeat themselves, sometimes they differ in meaningful ways, too. I mean, Sakura's genin team is a dead ringer for the Fourth's: you have the team's ace Amaya (Kakashi), the team's medic Haro (Rin), and the team newbie with a Sharingan Itachi (Obito).

    Belatedly, I thiiiink, although it has been ages, that the 'Naruto overloads jutsu' fanon came from the start of the series and his terrible skill at making normal clones, but he can spam the apparently much more chakra intensive Shadow Clone like popcorn. Fans took that to go 'he is putting way too much chakra into all jutsus' rather than 'his general control is absolute pants at the start of the series'.
