    This cover art stuck with me since I saw it as a child back in the 'Eighties.

    As a book, it's _not good._

    But it compares favorably, I think, to the other post-head injury/illness, lack-of-editorial-oversight, old-man-meandering, self-indulgent, gracelessly reminiscent, overhyped, claptrap that followed 'Mistress.'

    Also, the cover art really captures the unmotivated, vacillating, indifferent, and ineffectual point of view character from the book.

    its definitely my favorite cover to one of his books. Probably the most striking cover, with it color usage and vaguely renaissance composition. definitely one of michael whelans best works in my opinion, beaten only by some of the pieces he did for lord of the rings
