• Yes, you probably do need to quit drinking and get a girlfriend. Failing that, I'll settle for not getting paragraph-long digressions about your woes every other post. Like your latest post, which I only didn't report because it's just barely mostly relevant information.

    The Culture series is by Ian M Banks. It's a somewhat Utopian galactic society with really high technology(AI, biological immortality, transporters, FTL, etc). In universe, they're one power among many.
    It actually makes a lot of sense given the genre, Muv-Luv is a visual novel AKA interactive story with dating sim-ish elements. Mabu Rabu IIRC translates as "protect/save in the name of true love" where in the original VN ultimately a previously unresolved romance was the source of all mess. FSN is rationalized but unlike Muv-Luv it was never actually explained by the author.

    It's hardly a bad thing either, just what the cultural expectations dictate. But what it *also* highlights is that Muv-Luv is romance, character and plot first, realistic military and ship design is like...nowhere near being on the radar.

    Especially on Spacebattles I think people really forgot that and it make treating debates with actual intellectual honesty awkward and difficult at times (but not impossible, just a little annoying if you got caught up in it).

    Muv-Luv actually takes military matters much more seriously than your common example in such genre (mecha anime in alternate modern time setting) does. It's far from perfect but they actually get many things about military right. But yeah, the original trilogy which started this off was very character driven.
    Just stop *responding* to the GB stuff in the thread! Your replies are the biggest of anyone's, and it's people's natural tendency to at least give a brief explanation to yours since yours are, well, big explanations. A thread is a conversation, everything gets responded to! This is... what I was trying to avoid happening with my first post ^^;;
    Re: GB '16- Yea, we know it was a joke, and I'm not offended, but it's like, it's also a known-argument that has a big tendency to re-start long arguments *and* was off-topic to begin with... so, don't derail threads with argument-bait? People were just, indeed, politely asking you to not, so it's no big deal, it'd just be a good idea to drop it or go for a thread where it would be on-topic.

    Point is, everyone involved doesn't seem to want to make it a big deal, I don't know how we could've asked you to not less obtrusively but sorry that you felt attacked, so why don't we all just drop it?

    It was three posts counting Grey Rook's. Of course I want it dropped, I wasn't even anticipating it going beyond just my post. I was kind of hoping people would use their brains to not instinctively go OT for idiocy, but I guess people are overly-cautious of that if anything.

    Either way like I said I'm quite eager to just drop the matter and I appreciate you honoring my request to continue this in PMs rather than in the thread.
