Have you heard about the chemistry sets available in the last century? Back then, they were actually designed to explode.
Sure, they caused a lot of injuries, but that would be so cool!
There was also a "Young Scientist's Nuclear Experiment Kit" or similar, complete with uranium. Fortunately it sold poorly since it didn't blow up. That's probably a good thing.
