    To be honest I just found d it hard to read. Description is fine, but I felt like the description came at the expense of what was happening, and that you repeat information a lot.

    Like, in one sentence you say the ground is "like beaten iron burnt in The forge and never tempered," i.e. hard and hot. Two sentences later, you restate that the ground is hot, and it just seems like you could end the first sentence at iron and everything would flow better.
