It's fun, and something of an interesting thought experiment. Wondering on picking up my old ecology book because of it.

I gotta say that ecology absolutely does not play a factor in Monsterworld. It's 100% pure magic

    Oh, I know.
Still, interactions between various species (and their developments and extinctions) do bring to mind some interactions in nature.
More of an inspiration rather than outright resemblence, thought.
Facebook goes through a bad time today. On the bad side, I can't communicate. On the bright side, I got t??? w??tiness a wh???le new c???te???ry of ???stakes.
I came upon an insight into nature of reality. Bird song is literally rapping, attracting ladies and showing rivals who's boss.
How about a Gamer story, except the protagonist is lazy piece of crap, and the system really wants him to get off his ass?

Emperor of the World pondered- how on earth am I going to have a nice, lazy evening, when this omnipotent power keeps pushing me into greatness?
Finally, he had an idea. If everything he set out to do was bound to succeed like a quintuple critical roll, why not try becoming a God? A God of Laziness, to be precise.

Even that goal was reached incredibly quickly. Temples and effigies were already built in his name, so all it took was convincing his followers to change the symbolisms a little, add a few beanie chairs in, maybe some free weed and snacks?

And so, after flawlessly performing an ascendance ritual, God Emperor of the World sat on his cushy throne.
Him and his followers soon fell into a comfortable trance, no longer requiring sustenance or any wordly pleasures.
His ultimate goal, of just slacking off, was finally reached.
    The end.
I wonder about making quests. Ideas for quests, as currently I... well I don't have time for actually making them.
    PurposefulZephyr

Each of those quests would go in depth of the inventions and works you are making. What materials would go into it? What steps would you have to take? What problems would a real engineer encounter? Nothing on par with real work, but closer the better.

The magic parts (where they are, anyway) would flex a more creative muscle. After all, a precise enough pirokinetic would allow for some pretty advanced metallurgy to occur. Or an unorthodox (as far as you can be orthodox with new tech) use of a spell allowing for sidestepping some inconvenient issues.

Learning is an active process. Merely memorizing won't get you far. To remember information, you have to use it. That's why tests and teaching others are good ways to reinforce what material you read.
Stories are just another way to apply this information. Knowing at what temperature a specific alloy will break down is far more memorable when your characters life depends on getting it right.
I want to make an eldricht horror quest. But not the typical Cthulhu ripoff. REALISTIC (yeah I know right) eldricht horror.

The time and size of payment depends on the total GDP of Africa in current quarter, pet expenses your neighbor paid in last fortnight, as well as [REDACTED].
Don't even bother if you aren't a lawyer or accountant by trade. The paperwok requires a lifetime of study and practice for normal mortals.

Be wary, however! If you make a single mistake in those rites, be ready to face an unthinkable fate.
Your voice could end up sold on an auction, your house ending up a miltary zone for artillery practice overnight, and all your friends having a legal ownership of your soul.

Though I think writing this would require a lawyer crashcourse, as well as extensive psychedelic usage.
    Eh, something to think on.
Right. It's said you shouldn't say your resolutions to other people, but it's my own status anyway- time to take a long break from SV.

Coming here became something of a compulsion, which fuels a general addiction. And it went on like that for a while.
Doubt it'll be the last I come here- I still love writing and reading stories.
Just... a break would do good.

Who knows- maybe next time I visit, I'll start a quest?
I do have plenty of crazy ideas that I think I can make work.
    PurposefulZephyr
    PurposefulZephyr
Anyway- Happy New Year and successful resolutions, everyone!
Yeah, I think I can say it with a greater degree of confidence- Sufficient Velocity forum is a social network.

Why am I even bothering to write all this? No one will read this. Unless I delete this and my theory that a mod or someone reads it is true.
Eh, guess I want to talk, and have a chance of being heard (no matter how small). Besides, that Delete button is still there for my older messages- can always delete them later.

    Happy New Year, I guess?

You showed up in the new profile posts feed. Happy new year to you too.
I feel like I want to advertise a concept- chill music in the background.

Background music has the advantage of not requiring any attention whatsoever.
You can do your taxes, or take your dog on a walk. It'll be there, in your headphones, diffusing it's calming patterns in your mind.

Music tends to live outside of the moment you listen to them. Random pieces of it can play out in your head, a catchy earworm.
Just like planting trees to prevent global warming, so does planting peaceful tunes prevent meltdowns. It changes the composition of your thoughts, the ecology of your mind.

Just wanted to get this ramble out of my head.
For once, it's a positive thing I get out into the digital world.
The Hex really brings food for specific kind of thought.

I love those climates: imitating QMs style; sometimes mimicking players themselves; dropping characters from one quest to another, figuring out how would Explosive Hermit react to the Gracious Moth, or how would an Ebon Lord fare against a full-fledged WAAAGH!

It's a style. A path to take. A profession to master. A toolbox to gather all the tools for.
But... it's not a basis of a healthy breakfast. It feels more like a prestige class.
    PurposefulZephyr
    PurposefulZephyr
Yeah. It was fun to think about.
And writing it in like ten status updates is *totally* fitting- like writing out an idea for a culinary whodunnit on a series of napkins.
I feel I should hate this site. It's just like Facebook- a sink of time, filled with fake friends, false happiness.
    PurposefulZephyr
    PurposefulZephyr
Lots of likes and other emoticons, but not much interaction outside of that.
No one would give a shit if I decided to wear a ceiling tie and go to a meeting with god.

Case in point. Or maybe it was too metaphorical?
Hah, almost willing to see how an explicit promise would get ignored.

The way I see it, SV is a good way to meet people with similar interests, and then you can get to know them better through Discord or something.
I guess if I start writing quests or something, this could be useful- people won't be wondering where I've went with my updates.

After all, I doubt my shitposts have any long-term fans. :p
