    Aren't they? You have Memphis come in from 200 ish years inn the future, and they originate who knows how long ago.

    You could easily have them grab the time Diamonds during any of the 20+ times that Little Planet visits Mobius, and that let's us keep the time travel without having the Chaos Gems being able to time travel.
