For the briefest of seconds, you're struck by the beauty of the world you call home. This far out from the Central Islands, the view out of your fighter's cockpit is unobstructed by larger islands. The sky stretches endlessly above you, a clear blue that hints at the deeper blue beyond. Beneath you, clouds both wispy and thick float in the wind, whites against the dark grey of the Murk. Azure is a beautiful world.

Bullets whizz past your fighter, your life saved only by the poor aim of the pair of pirate biplanes tangling with you. That brief second of admiring the beauty of your surroundings on your first real mission as a member of the Esteemed Guild of Combat Aviation almost cost you your life. With a shake of your head, you focus back on the dogfight you've found yourself in.

Somewhere 'behind' you lies the pair of tankers that your flight was contracted to escort from a gas extraction operation back to Jamaica; your flight was able to intercept the pirates and their frigate before they were able to get close to your charges, rendering the tankers not a worry for now. Good, because the six fighters from your carrier, the Madanm nan Jakmèl, are going against eight pirate biplanes and a converted bombardment frigate.

Fortunately, the pirate frigate is ignoring the furball and making a beeline for the tankers, giving your flight enough time to engage the biplanes before turning your attention to it.

Unfortunately, you would be on your own for a moment, as your flight had scattered on the merge. Now you faced a furball, the pair of biplanes that had taken a shot at you the object of your current attention. Fortunately, your Guild issue Warbird has better performance...

[ ] You pull back on the stick and push the throttle forwards, gaining altitude, before you roll over to your left and push the stick forwards. Its a move that the under-powered biplanes can't possibly match, not against your Warbird. Your model is as pure of a fighter as a new Warbird can get, with its Improved Turbo-Supercharger powered engine letting you dictate the terms of a fight, while the High-Visibility Cockpit gives you a better awareness of your surroundings. To top it off, your Warbird is a pusher model, its quartet of 12.7mm Heavy Machine Guns unobstructed by propellers. All the better when you pull the trigger, letting lose with Incendiary Rounds. You don't even have to worry about having ammo for the frigate, with the 225-lb Bomb you're lugging for it.

[ ] To hell with this dance- your Warbird is an attacker, and you can't wait to get to that Frigate. You bank hard, keeping up your thrust as you come around to go head to head with both Biplanes. You're confident, though: you've got Frontal Armor to help you withstand the peashooters those biplanes are carrying, and Enhanced Crew Protection to help with that; the pair of 20mm Cannons your Warbird has are built to make short work of frigates, but it'll do just fine against planes made of canvas and wood. You've got a second pair of 40mm Cannons for the Frigate too, these firing Armor-Piercing Shells.

A hunter
On another world, in another time, pilots like you were called many things. The germans would use the word Experten. In a war on a peninsula, split between a communist north and capitalist south, those like you made up just 5% of all fighter pilots, but made 40% of the kills. You are a hunter, and it shows now.

The two pirates try to turn away, breaking in separate directions. With a split second decision, you focus on the trail biplane as he dives, attempting to outrun you. No such luck - your warbird is heavier, and stays on him in the dive. Before he can try anothr evasive maneuver, your crosshair drifts across his fuselage and you pull the trigger.

Bright red tracers rip across the sky as all four of your guns chatter. The flames that overtake the biplane are more pleasing, however, as your rounds set the canvas alight and sever the control surfaces. You pull away from tumbling, burning pirate and start scanning the skies for the second fighter.

It isn't long before you see him, 3 o'clock high, banking to your left and trying to coax you into a turning fight. As underpowered and underarmed as these biplanes are, they can still turn sharper than you.

So you don't let him get the chance. Instead you push the throttle open again and angle in for a deflection shot. The biplane sees you and tries to turn in tighter to get a head-on shot, but its too late for him. Your warbird thunders past the pirate and levels out, a second kill to your name that day.

With the immediate threat taken care of, you roll your plane left and right slightly as you look around. Your situation's fine for now, but the rest of your flight will probably need help. With two of the pirates down, the fight remains six on six with a warship waiting in the wings.

Just... what is your callsign, though?
