Five years ago it all began to change. No one was quite sure how it began, no one is still sure except those that were involved. However it happened, though, the League had slowly been taken over and molded for one purpose: order. Time after time after time, evil organizations rose up with some plot or another. Whether it be increasing land mass, rebuilding the galaxy, or just liberating Pokemon from pokeballs. And time after time, the world had to rely on children to stop them.
That was why the League had been infiltrated, and why it had been changed. First were the gyms; gym leaders were offered "help" in defending their cities, and if they refused the help, they were forcibly "helped". From there, the laws came. Curfews, strict identification, censoring those opposing the new order, and surveillance, keeping an eye on all the citizens.
Anything in order to keep order, to maintain peace. This was Lux.
It wasn't long before people began to voice their discontent with this new order. Many of those people were taken away, never to be seen again, but this only inflamed the passion and anger of the others, and before long, a full-blown rebellion had erupted. Riots, protests, and numerous other rebellious actions were on the rise, the work of Nox. Those who opposed Lux. They would do anything, and would not accept surrender as an option; Lux had to go, no matter what.
The world erupted into full-out war then, with everyone being dragged into it. It didn't matter if you were an ordinary citizen, because if you were, you were abiding by Lux laws; you supported them. And yet, if you opposed them, you had nowhere to run or hide. You could expect no mercy. Whole cities, and regions, were embroiled into the conflict, with only the faraway Unova and Kalos regions staying out of the fighting.
Honestly, no one was sure how long that would last at all.
It was with that thought that you finally woke up, wondering just why your brain decided to give you a history lesson after you'd gotten knocked out like that. The last thing you remember was...right. An explosion, and you looking up just as a piece of rubble fell off from a nearby building. Not big enough to kill, apparently, but big enough to knock you out. Now you just had to figure out what to do from here.

Okay, so, information! Full disclosure, this is NOT my original idea. It's born of an RP forum I was on years ago that, unfortunately, died out. The character choices are based on characters I actually played there, so no worries about me plagiarizing them or anything. ^^ I will likely not be changing the names of any characters that were on that RP forum for this Quest, just to make things easier for me to keep track of.
And yes. I am running four Quests at the same time. Do I care? Nope! This idea spoke strongly to me, and when I get nostalgic, I get nostalgic. I hate letting things just lie forever. =P Oh yes, and for the prebuilt OC choices, the ones I presented, if you feel very strongly about their names, you can vote to change them to something else, I don't mind at all.
*Within reason, anything will be allowed. Obviously, I won't allow a full team of six shiny legendaries, so try to keep it reasonable if you go this route.
**For canon purposes, I refer to the main series games as well as the games set in the Orre region. The anime and manga don't count as canon for the purposes of this quest. Apologies for all you Ash lovers.
Aris was born into a life of luxury in Saffron, and that was all she knew until she was 12. It was then that Lux rose into power, and it was also then that her best friend's family disappeared entirely, merely due to rumors that they supported Nox. Resentment bubbled for years, and when she turned 17, she made the decision to leave, get stronger, and oppose Lux wherever she could. She could not just sit back and allow things to play out. Disturbingly, she has a very similar appearance to one of the leaders of Nox; quite the coincidence, to say the least.
Tika's origins are shrouded in mystery. Most say she's more like a cat Pokemon than a human. In truth, not a single soul knows her true origin. Originally from Snowpoint, she and her family were celebrating her fifth birthday by going skiing; unfortunately, a snowstorm caused her parents to be lost, with her only narrowly surviving thanks to a pack of Purrloin. They raised her, and she survived; unfortunately, years later a group of people who would later join Nox stumbled upon the Pokemon, whom were killed merely for defending their territory. Since then, Tika was drawn in by the propaganda of Lux, and wholeheartedly believes in their cause. And her loyalty shows, too, given her rather elite position of 'Sentinel', the elite of the elite in terms of Lux fighters. People often think she's quite insane, and she just might be; who else would just give themselves the last name of 'Nya'?
Paige is still just a young girl, only 10 years of age, having been born in Dewford. However, she is wise beyond her years, and terribly alone. Only a few years ago, her sister had left on a journey to conquer the Hoenn league, leaving Paige and her parents alone in Dewford. It was only a little while after that that her mother passed away due to an illness, and her father took out his frustrations by yelling and shouting at Paige. She chose to run off when he went too far one day and struck her; she hoped to find her sister, having heard rumors she had joined Nox. A rather troubling situation, given Paige believed in Lux's idea of order, even if she didn't like what they did to get there.
Born into a clan of "ninja" in Snowpoint, they are really more like a large family hired out to perform numerous obligations. Sometimes that includes shadowing people, stealing information or other things, or even assassinations. Luna proved to be good at all of this, but often chases at whispers of the location of her cousin; he's the one who inspired her to try so hard and be so great. Following a rumor that he had joined Lux, she infiltrated their ranks as a common soldier.
Hmm, so how does the Pokemon league tournament work now? I mean do they still have the tournaments gym leaders badges yadda yadda, or is it just a glorified training simulator for Lux recruits.
Also what is the role of the champion is he the glorious supreme leader like Emperor Palpatine or more the head dragon in charge Darth Vaddr style?

Well as this is based on the games, there is no "tournament". People go through the gyms, collect badges, and challenge the league. Which yes, they DO still have, just...no one's really going through and getting badges because gym leaders are typically away for weeks to months at a time helping in the war.
As for the champion(s), they hold some sway in whatever faction they're in due to just how plain powerful they are. However, that doesn't mean they're automatically at the top in terms of commanding the two sides. Lux, for instance, isn't ruled by a champion, but rather one person in the form of a President. Nox is "ruled" by five different generals. And I say "ruled" because, this being a loose rebel group, there's no true central command structure. These five are just the five Nox rebels trust the most.
Don't worry, though. =P Canon characters will definitely be showing up, and still in high positions. Just not in the "leading the whole faction" position.
Four different votes. Hrm, unfortunate. I was hoping to update before I had to head off to work. Oh well. Hopefully, more votes will come in by the time 8 hours have gone by.

3 for Lunara, 1 for all the others. Pretty clear who wins, here. =)
You remembered how this had happened, now, and vowed that was the last time you'd enter the city alongside all the other Lux soldiers. The helicopter that had brought you all in had been a gigantic target, and Nox had quickly taken it down before it could properly land. Heaving a sigh, you glanced down at yourself, smiling a bit when you noticed you were perfectly fine, other than a dull ache in your head. If you had to guess, the other Lux soldiers were probably scouring the city, hunting down any Nox rebels they ran across. You didn't particularly care about the fighting, if you were honest. All of this was just a way to figure out where Shamees, your cousin, was.
Frustratingly, you almost never heard anyone talking about him. Perhaps he was just a common soldier too, like yourself. Or maybe even one of those double agents Lux inserted into Nox. There was honestly no telling. Pushing those thoughts to the side for the moment, however, you had to decide on what to do. Exploring the city, you recalled its name being Olivine, was certainly an option, though there was no telling what you'd run into. Or you supposed you could refrain from risking a battle entirely, and instead take to the skies, and do some recon.
Well, you'd probably be doing something of that sort, anyway. It was always smarter to have an eye in the sky, no matter if you were up there with that eye or not. You took a glance around, peering carefully at the nearby burning building, to make sure no one was sneaking up on you before you took out one of your pokeballs. Without much grandiose to it, you tossed the ball forwards and out came...

[]Write-In (must be a Flying-type, or a Pokemon that can fly)
Your pokemon regarded the immediate area with some surprise before turning its gaze on you, curiosity clear in its gaze. "Ah...right. I told you this was gonna happen, remember? That we were gonna be heading into a war zone? Well, this is it. Think you could get up high so we can tell where everyone is?" you questioned, and after a brief moment, you got a nod in return. Not that you expected anything different; you'd known this particular pokemon for years.
With the decision made, you hopped on, and within moments you were up in the air, surveying the area. You briefly enjoyed the sensation of being so high and free, you always did, before looking down, focusing on your task. Now...what to do?
[]Stay in the area and look around.
-[]Over there...who's that green-haired kid? And the person he's fighting, you recognize her. One of the new leaders of Nox.
-[]And just over there. You recognize THAT man instantly, the president of Lux himself, fighting fiercely against a young man with a black-gold cap, a red jacket, and black pants.
[]Head closer to the lighthouse. Nox staged their attack from the beach, and the fighting is fiercest there.
-[]Isn't that Platinum down there? You can't get a clear look on who she's fighting, there's smoke everywhere, but considering Platinum's Lux allegiance, it's a safe bet it's a Nox soldier.
-[]You again can't get quite the best look at the fighters of the other battle raging near the lighthouse, but isn't that red-haired boy fighting down there the rival of Gold?
[]Hang back for now and just observe things as they play out.

So! I hope you enjoy the update. You're currently in Olivine City as a part of Lux, fighting against Nox who had staged an attack on the city. For reference, Lux has the most influence in Kanto and Sinnoh, while Nox has the most influence in Hoenn, with Johto being contested, both sides controlling a fair number of cities in the region. Unova and Kalos are mostly free from the conflict, for now. Even though the options don't explicitly spell it out, if you pick one of the four battles going on, you will intervene in it. How well that goes is up to how you handle the situation.
As for the pokemon choice, feel free to do whatever you want in terms of its moves, gender, name, all of that jazz. Just keep it somewhat reasonable. =P A pokemon having an egg move or 2 is fine, but try NOT to give Lunara's pokemon moves that would fit a breeder's pokemon more than an ordinary trainer's.
Lastly! For those who are curious, Lunara is focused on the Flying-type side of things, with a trainer class of Bird Keeper. The other three choices (Aris, Paige, and Tika) would have been Lady, School Kid (eventually changing into the Dancer class, potentially), and Burglar. Aris would have had no particular type focus, nor would Tika (though she'd probably have had a cat focus), while Paige would have had a Grass-type focus.
Ah yes, I nearly forgot. Appearance! The default appearance will be Lyon from Suikoden V; however, you can feel free to change that if you wish.

Oh dear. Knew I was forgetting something that, ICly, you guys would know. Namely, the structure of the two factions; bear with me, as this is gonna override what I said earlier about champions.
Lux has the following positions: 1 President, 1 Vice President, 5 Champions, 10 Council members, and any number of Sentinels/soldiers/agents/officers.
Most of the roles are obvious, with the President having the ultimate sway in most anything, the VP right behind him, and the 5 Champions being in charge of their respective region (though, obviously, the Unovian Champion can't do much given the lack of a Lux foothold in Unova). Council members are basically political people, businessmen, and basically anyone big and influential enough to hold some amount of sway. Sentinels are basically the elite of the elite, a task force specifically made to do anything Lux determines essential. They answer to no one but the President, and therefore not even the Champions of Lux can interfere in their business. Agents are basically double agents, infiltrating Nox and acting as if they are a part of it to gain information, with soldiers being rank and file soldiers, and officers being a step up above them, having proven their ability to command.
As for Nox, they have 10 Leaders, 10 Lieutenants, then any number of Speakers, Collectors, Spies, and Soldiers. There are 2 Leaders per region, and as the name implies, they are in charge of running it, and planning out attacks to take over the region for Nox. There is a Lieutenant for each Leader, essentially being their second in command. Speakers are, again as the name implies, public speakers who use words to sway common citizens rather than violence or force. Collectors are essentially spy masters, consolidating information and sending it in to their respective Leaders, with Spies essentially being Nox's Agents, and again, soldiers are just that, common soldiers.
