It is the end of the 18th century. For more than a hundred centuries, France has sat immobile as one of the strongest countries in Europe. And the sudden famine, as well as the debt the country incurred for its help of the former British colony of America to become a free and unfettered Republic, has nailed France to a period of political and economic instability yet unseen in the world as ideas and opposition to the ruling class that has ruled for years began to fester in the shadows.
To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold thousands and to know that, if you could only extend your hand, you might be able to catch the tumbling crown of France and its people. It is to live in the brightest and cruellest of time. These are the tales of those times.
Forget the power of the royalty and the feudal system, for so much about them is hated. Forget about the established system and instead look outward for the infinite possibilities therein. Instability means possibility, and in such a time there is no lack of ambitious men amongst the people of France, from the lowest of commoners to the highest nobles, only one amongst them can reach the top, all the while the eyes of ruthless and ambitious countries pause on France like carrion birds waiting to eat their fill.
Will you be one of those men? Careerists dying on their way to power, or will you grasp tight onto the stairs to the peak and be crowned, ruler of France, the most populated and unstable country in Europe?
Or will you die, your name unheard and forgotten by the presage of times?
Let us see, then, what the winds of Fate have for you.
But who are you?
Perhaps you wish to be one of the known players and characters of the time period? To be one of those men that had flirted with eternal glory, only for it to be reaped beneath them by the uncaring scythe of History. (Historical Character)
Maybe you are...
[] Georges Washington…Lafayette. Son of the famous hero of the American Revolution and named after the President by the same name, ten years old when the Revolution began what will you do? Will you bow to Napoleon and his Empire or will you try and make a Republic once more of France?
[] Napoleon Bonaparte... King of Rome. You are the son of the great conqueror, the one that made Europe tremble with every step, but you were but a boy and now you are nothing but a prisoner in your grandfather's court, raised as an Austrian your fate is that of a bird in the ornate cage that is the court. Will you break your shackles and fly freely, oh son of the Revolution?
[] Louis-Auguste de France, more commonly known as Louis XVI, yours is the strongest nation in Europe, France. But your decision could very well destabilise the country for generations to come.
[] Napoleon Bonaparte, one of the most famous men of this period.
