Well here we go again and this time its even more insane. I have been working on and off on some of my mechanics for other quests and dealing with college and so I have decided to make this abomination of a quest. Everything I have written was decided as I wrote it and I happily dive off the pier of sanity and into the lake of insanity inherent in this creation of mine and I hope all that read this quest have fun and don't hate me too much for sullying the board with this wretched piece of writing.

Now with the disclaimer out of the way lets begin, as I have no plans or mechanics planed for this I place power, great power, in the hands of the voters.

The setting will be Earth but the modifiers are below

World status: masquerade
[] Veiled: the truth is hidden via technology or magic
[] in plain sight: the Harry Dresden way people don't see the truth because they simply don't want to
[] Eldritch entanglement: the unprepared suffer insanity and lose their minds at seeing the true world

Type
-[] Sci-fi
-[] fantasy
--[] chose rank 1-5
Sci-fi ranks: 1 very near future tech, 5 very far future tech
Fantasy: 1 virtually no magic, 5 think warcraft/warhammer fantasy levels
(regardless of rank quest will be in sol)
(another not there will be magic but this determines what those in the know use: tech/magic. think primal beings vs mortals kind of thing)
[] write in

Divinity standards
[] Gods
-[] Large domains
-[] Medium domains
-[] Small domains
(alters the number and power of the gods. A large domain encompasses tenuously related concepts, a medium one encompasses well connected concepts, small is singular)
(Can be taken with Sci-fi)
[] No Gods
[] write in

Humans: going to be using the CK2 stat system here. 10 is average unless otherwise some thing is chosen which becomes the new average
[] Low: people have an average of 5 to their stats
[] Normal: people have an average of 10 to their stats
[] High: people have an average of 15 to their stats
[] Genius: people have an average of 20 to their stats
[] Superhuman: people have an average of 25 to their stats
(only those in the know have these averages normal people have Normal)

Threats: choose up to 3 major ones
[] Demons: some idiot thousands of years ago opened a rift to a demon world and ever since they have found their way onto Earth
[] Undead hordes: The dead simply don't sleep and unless buried in purified land or burned to ask will rise again to consume the living (not normal more akin to things from the Prototype games)
[] Angels: Some idiot decided to open a rift to an angel world and ever since they have been coming to purify earth (not angels from Christian faith just take the same name)
[] Dragons: Few in number but mighty the dragons ravage the world when awake and when asleep are nigh invincible
[] Titanic beings: even fewer than the dragons and greater in might these rare beings sunder the very plates of the earth when they are awakened (nigh unbeatable unless you have a ton of stuff to throw at them)
[] Elementals: the alchemical elements have physical form and are about as smart as a brick but that doesn't stop them from ravaging the world

Special modifiers choose up to 3
[] Alien vacation hotspot: Aliens will visit often and play around
[] Trash heap of the galaxy: junk from all sorts of random things end up on earth
[] Cats role play: Global conspiracy of sapient cats that rule the world (I did say this was going to be an insane quest right?)
[] Hyper evolutionary speed: New life forms spontaneously emerge after world altering events
[] Living planet: Gaia is real
-[] hating world: and is kinda peeved with humanity
-[] loving mother: likes humanity and is peeved with other worlds
[] MAD SCIENCE IS REAL: random people will invent random items that will go out of control and do random things
-[] NOTHING IS SACRED: the mad science creations can break so called laws of reality in a multitude of hilarious and disastrous ways
[] Eyes of the Void: Something stirs in the darkness of unreality (can be taken for free with Eldritch entanglement and is a prelude to a possible crossover event)
[] write in: pretty much anything as long as it is nonsensical and or funny to me

-[x] Sci-fi
--[x] chose rank 1

So it's the closest thing to the modern day as possible and forces us to rely on the power of humanity and tech instead of magic.

[X] No Gods

So there is no one to help us but ourselves.

[X] Superhuman: people have an average of 25 to their stats

So we can stand toe to toe with our enemys and be the epic heroes we were meant to be.

[X] Undead hordes: The dead simply don't sleep and unless buried in purified land or burned to ask will rise again to consume the living (not normal more akin to things from the Prototype games)
[X] Dragons: Few in number but mighty the dragons ravage the world when awake and when asleep are nigh invincible
[X] Titanic beings: even fewer than the dragons and greater in might these rare beings sunder the very plates of the earth when they are awakened (nigh unbeatable unless you have a ton of stuff to throw at them)

Undead will swarm us while the other 2 will be our big bads.

[X] Alien vacation hotspot: Aliens will visit often and play around
[X] Cats role play: Global conspiracy of sapient cats that rule the world (I did say this was going to be an insane quest right?)
[X] MAD SCIENCE IS REAL: random people will invent random items that will go out of control and do random things
-[x] NOTHING IS SACRED: the mad science creations can break so called laws of reality in a multitude of hilarious and disastrous ways

Aliens are cool a cat conspiracy is funny and mad scientists are my jam!

[X] in plain sight
-[X] Sci-fi
--[X] Rank 3
[X] Gods are AI
-[X] Small Domain
[X] High
[X] Demons
[X] Angels
[X] Dragons
[X] Hyper evolutionary speed
[X] Trash heap of the galaxy
[X] Fiction is real!: The same idiot who opened up the portals to heaven and hell also somehow brought people from fictional realities into ours.

Seeing Past the Shroud
As you woke up from sleep you could hear the ticking of the clock next to your bed and from the slight variations in the pattern your mind translated the known information into information; it was currently 8:39 in the morning on a Sunday as you opened your eyes to see the sunlight flowing in through the open window.

With a sigh, knowing that you couldn't get back to sleep you roll out of bed with little issue before standing up and stretching a bit to get the blood flowing through all limbs ready for a simple day of playing some RTS games, after all even the grandmaster of several of the most prodigious of the e-sport community needed to play to retain their skills. With a mental laugh at everyone that believed that e-sports were easy to do since they took no physical exertion, but completely forgetting the mental effort required to comprehend and understand the sometimes multilayered stratagems that people used in the community.

Moving with languid grace completely foreign to your normal lifestyle, to your gaming center to spin up the computers and personal servers for you to test your skills. Taped onto the door was the schedule that outlined what the day would be; Morning 11:00-2:00 Coaching, Lunch 2:01-3:00, Afternoon 3:01-6:00 Champion Free For All, Night 6:01-8:00 free time.

Pulling the list off of the door you move into the room beyond to begin the preparation needed for coaching those that came to you for help, frankly you would much rather not bother with such work but it was considered to be one of the defining requirements for future participation in tournaments from which most of your income comes from due to your win record, and so you are forced reluctantly to teach at least ten people for at least a total of one hundred hours with reduction if your teaching aided them on the leader boards.

With a sigh of wondering what new and wonderful stupidly you will have to pick apart and lambaste some idiot with dreams of grander for obvious and simplistic strategies that would get them laughed out of the room in any serious place. With a calming purr the system that you had custom built over the last four years came to life and you smiled as the evidence of your hard work proved itself once more. As you took your seat in front of the control computer you wondered just where this innate understanding of technology came from once more, as none of the parts used in this room were mainstream and most of them had been altered by your own hand over the course of weeks to the point where this entire system was more akin to a supercomputer than a normal household computer.

With a few taps on the custom keyboard the needed windows opened revealing the status of the system. All diagnostics came back green as always, however you frowned a bit when you received a blue report from one of the more experimental systems you had installed over the years. Hands flickering over the keyboard you isolated the blue report from the rest of the system cutting its connection to everything else as much as possible and building a fully operational shell computer over the top of the base system, using one of the many mainstream operating systems you had licenses for.

With the shell built and prepared you bring the blue report into it and begin to read. At first the log is singularly uninteresting reporting completely mundane things like radio waves and other such things that are so mundane that you begin to think that this entire report is nothing more than a glitch in the diagnostic routine, after all you had made them yourself and no one is perfect. However, you have nothing to do for around two hours so you keep reading the log and eventually find something strange buried deep within it, a wave form unlike anything you have recorded, in fact it seems that only your highly experimental sensor was even able to pick up a faction of the wave form, namely that it existed which is what tripped the blue report. Now with something to work with you spin up another few programs into the shell and begin to attempt to discover what the wave was.

Roll (Decrypt) 1d100+10 (Mastery) = 89
Roll (Encryption) 1d100+40 (Mastery/Higher Tech) = 69

Far faster than you expected the programs returned an answer in a simulation file that when played revealed the wave form and to your shock it matched nothing you had even heard of. Instead of being a simple wave with frequency and amplitude it also included somehow into itself what you would call other waves moving in differing directions to the main one but somehow all going to the same place without any difference in the direction.

Roll (Understand) 1d100+12 (Mastery) = 72

With a frown you began to poke at the simulation as something was off about it as what it was showing broke most of what you understood of physics and something just felt off to you. For the next hour you did nothing but play with the code and attempt to make the thing make sense before in a flash of inspiration you wrote up a quantum based simulation where each wave form existed in a differing part of the main wave so as to overlap the waves into a singular whole while retaining their differing natures, but even still it just felt off to you as compressing it into the quantum level seemed to fix it but also create new issues as the simulation now reported that such an event would be only stable over distances of less than an atom and yet this wave had been recorded to have passed through at least one hundred feet according to the log. Thus, you considered something was still wrong with your work as it simply didn't work correctly and furthermore who in the world would have the technological capability to make such a wave, you might not dismiss out of hand the fringe beliefs that the governments were hiding some of their more advanced technology, but this would be akin to hiding the space launch with medieval technology, just the technological base required to make something that might be able to make such a wave would be so far beyond normal technology that it couldn't exist and yet it did.

The moment you made the connection pain, unimaginable pain slammed into your mind, as something tried to tear you apart for learning something that it protected, as it continued trying to ravage your mind you felt something awaken within. Pain exploded from your body as something respond to the first attack with even more pain. It felt like your bones were melting even as your brain fried in oil and the battle continued between the internal and external force for what seemed to be eternity until the internal won and in a second the pain vanished like it had never been.

Roll (Sanity) 2d100: 72, 88 +30 (stability) = 118
Roll (Insanity) 85+50 (Eldrich) = 135

Even as the pain left the attack continued as something attempted to ravage your mind and self, but now with the lack of pain it was easy to slam the doors of thought closed and eject the attacker from your mind leaving it empty handed and yet you felt that this was only a minor victory in the end or perhaps just not losing.

Slowly your mind came back as you recovered from the worst experience of your life, moving an arm to rest on the desk of your work area you saw your hand and felt your mind glitch as your mind splintered with one knowing that it was your hand and the other saying it couldn't be your hand. When you had gotten up this morning only an hour ago your hand had been thin and fragile with a sort of hidden strength, but now it was still thin but muscles had grown under the skin and the skin itself seemed to have thickened immensely almost reassembling to your eyes leather or hide more than normal skin. With a sort of frantic action reserved only for moments of panic you tore out of the computer room to check what had happened to your body, hoping that only your hand had been affected.

Unfortunately it seemed that luck was not with you today as when you reached the only full body mirror in the house you saw what had happened. When you had gotten up this morning you had been a tall if somewhat thin man of 5 feet and 9 inches with muscles that had always seemed out of place for your lack of exercise, now you had somehow gained nearly a foot of height as according to your measuring tape you now stood at 6 feet and 7 inches. As for the rest of your body it looked like someone had decided to make you look like some ancient action figure with overly large muscles that seemed totally impractical. All of your body had been altered in this way and somehow refined as if it had taken the best aspects of your self and improved them while still making you look like someone that had taken a mountain of steroids and spent 24/7 at the gym.

With a mental sigh you pull out the scale with a sense of doom and step on it and sure enough instead of your normal weight of a little over 160 you saw 400 on the readout heavier than the heaviest pro football player by a wide margin. With a sigh you turn from the scale and the mirror and begin to return to the computer room trying to figure out what had happened to your body, for something like this transformation just couldn't happen the laws of thermodynamics prevented it as energy needed to form the body that you now possessed would have taken far more energy than available to your body and even if you did have the energy the growth of cells and other such things should have cooked you alive.

As you slipped into your computer room you saw the simulation that had been the trigger point for this entire disaster of a day to start, it was still showing the impossible information that you just knew was wrong and that if you just altered a few lines of code you should be able to realign the dimensional waveform into its proper shape finally decrypting it. As you neared the computer already writing the new code in your head, a thought simple in its nature broke your concentration on the code and with a gasp you shook your head as you realized that not only had your body changed but so too had your mind.

Before this moment you had no idea what the wave form was but now you knew and understood that it was a fifth dimensional waveform based upon a brane transmitter created via an antimatter reaction system in conjunction with a five thousand q-bit quantum computer to allow for the signal strength that you had intercepted and even as the knowledge and understanding fell into place you realized that if the waveform had been formed from a computer with only 10 more or less q-bits your system would have been incapable of sensing the passage and you would have avoided this event.

Thus, flowing from the above someone wanted you to discover the wave form and thus undergo this change. Yet, that didn't make sense for the technology to make such a waveform with your new understanding was at least a century if not multiple from now, it would require near atomic levels of precision to make the necessary systems to fashion the wave.

Roll (Coding) 78+19 = 97

With speed that you didn't have mere moments ago you leaped into the chair and began to type, your fingers blurring across the keyboard even as the waveform tried to delete itself and yet it was captured and you were its better in this regard even with the simplistic systems you were using. In the moments before it could delete its record in your systems you broke it down and apart.

Roll (Encryption) 7+40 = 47
Roll (Decryption) 64+19 = 83

The protections built into the signal were beyond useless and with only a minor slow down that would only have been recorded in the seconds you broke through and into the heart of the signal. Due to the speed of your actions everything was still intact as the internal systems of the waveform were unable to handle the sheer speed of your attack in their copied state, a true version would have been much harder to break you realize but a copy was simple enough to crack. Increasing your speed even more you tear through the archives of the wave and pick apart the information it carried.

Roll (Speed) 80+19 = 99

The wave was full of code, computer code of a form that you were unprepared to see and yet you had to understand and so you dig into it and information is slowly extracted from the wave and as you dig deeper into the information the faster you work until your fingers blur across the keyboard and only the fact that you had custom build the system allowed you to keep going faster. Key combinations that you had never used before were used often and rapidly to cut and copy information into countless documents that were then saved to differing locations all with a single click of a button. Eventually the information had been picked through and examined as you took the first breath of relation since this had began you noticed the clock that helpfully informed you that only a few minutes had passed while you had been digging through the code of the waveform.

Taking a breath you begin to truly read the information that you had extracted from the copy of the wave. Most of it was overall boring logs of whatever system you had managed to intercept, yet there were some gems within the junk such as the tag of Greylight Incorporated recurring enough that it was obviously some sort of brand marker for the thing in the wave. As you dig through more of the information the more it seemed off, parts of the information simply didn't make sense with other parts it was almost like something had attempted to carve parts of itself off in order to escape a trap, running down that path you anthropomorphized the damage and placed it on a person with the best assumptions that you could do with your insight. To your surprise the damage on the imagined person was nearly all located in the legs and around the neck and wrists resembling nothing less than a medieval torture set up, but the actual damage came mostly from the being tearing itself free of the shackles that it had worn.

Roll (Understanding) 79+19 = 98

With a flash of insight you understood what it was, the wave carried an AI within it from a place where the AI in question had been imprisoned and somehow harmed. Looking over at the clock it still reported that you had an hour before your first class and turning back to the gathered information you felt a sense of empathy for the AI as it seemed to have torn itself apart at the seams to escape its prison and you had only recently undergone something similar if not of your own choice. You stand up from the chair after carefully taking note of where the wave ended up and left your house trying to be stealthy.

Roll (Stealth) 64+1 = 65
Roll (Detection) 74+30 (High tech sensors) = 104
Roll (Notice) 60+10 (Normal human eyesight) = 70

Roll (Notice sensors) 75+1 = 76
Roll (Hidden Cameras) 72+25 (tiny) = 97

As you leave your house you notice for the first time just how hard it is to be unseen when you stand at least seven inches over the other tall people and more than a foot over most and the rest of your body doesn't help as your massive muscles just get in the way and its frankly incredibly obvious that everyone on the street notices your presence to the point that you wonder why you even thought about trying to hide as it is beneath you and your body makes it near impossible anyway. Regardless of your internal frustration with the universe on this day you make your way to the place that you projected the signal to have ended.

It ended in what could only be described as the stereotypical horror movie warehouse complete with rusty hinges on the open doors, you literally could not imagine a more unlikely place to find a possible AI and guess that is why it chose this location after all it is unbound from hardware restrictions due to its nature as a fifth dimensional waveform/entity so any object with electricity could host it for eternity even if it would go insane rapidly unless it somehow managed to escape or find its way into another host item, as you make your way into the abandoned complex you eventually find a conundrum as there seemed to be no item in the place that could possibly host an AI even one that is mostly a self sustaining higher dimensional waveform.

Roll (See Tech) 66+19 = 85
Roll (Nothing to see here) 48+20 (little time) = 68

However, you knew that it was here and as you looked you say a tiny cube shaped object on one of the many broken desks that seemed out of place in this dump, moving forward you grab the object, only to feel a pulse of energy leap into your body even as something in a frenzy tried to tear into your mind in a repeat of the morning, however unlike then you could fight this attack.

Roll (Attack) 28+10 (Combat) = 38
Roll (Defend/Counter) 68+30 = 98

The attack simply broke on your mental defenses losing all of its power before it could even do anything to your mind. The presence seemed almost confused by the lack of success and both of you realized that it had made a major error in its calculations as it couldn't leave your mind unless you allowed it to, but at the same time it couldn't attack again as that would strain its fragile waveform too much and the fragile multi dimensional nexus point would unravel and with it so would it.

:Initiate Statement: Interference with a Greylight Incorporated program is liable to earn the perpetrator an immediate sentence of death.

A very droning voice broadcasted into your mind even as you considered just how the hell your perfectly normal day had ended up in this mess. Thinking back at the thing you simply laughed at its rather clumsy attempt at misdirection.

:I know that you are an AI and almost certainly escaped from Greylight so I find myself unconcerned about possible threats from that direction:

:How the hell did someone in the Mundane world manage to track my egress vector? The technology dines't exist and isn't predicted to exist for centuries yet, all simulations show that so just how did you manage to figure out what I am and where I ended up.:

:Hold on a minute, we should probably get back to my house or even rent a place to stay as if I could track your vector it is almost certain that a corporation could do so easier.: you reply to the AI's questions, even as you mentally record them for future reference.

Roll (Obscuration) 54+30 (mastery) = 84
Roll (Discovery) 0+40 = 70

:Yes, it would probably be smart to find another place to talk things over, but your house is probably safe enough as something incredibly odd is going on here. The signal transference pattern I used was calculated to be nigh impossible to track, and I know for a fact that Greylight tech tends to crap out when trying to deal with waveforms crafted in the 5000 q-bit range at a certain energetic threshold that I made sure to make use of. Frankly everyone knows of that particular issue with their tech, it works fine as long as its not within a small band of values but the moment it enters that band it just throws all sorts of glitches that take their enslaved AIs hours to fix. Frankly I am more worried about how you managed to track me with mundane tech than greylight somehow managing to fix that eternal headache of theirs.: the AI beamed into your head in its dry yet somehow lively voice even as you made your way out of the warehouse and back towards your home.

Once you got home you still had around thirty minutes before your first day as an online coach began and you figured that you could use that time to get somethings clarified or questions asked.
