This is the In Character thread for the Digging Up Problems RP (DigRP for short.)

The earth groans as a gust of bracing, cold air gusts over it. Thin streams of loose snow dance around peaks, natural or otherwise, that stand out. One of the Counter Force men huddling behind a truck adjusts his helmet.

A woman with a Counter Force uniform and a hood waves to the group standing on the arrival platform, "Good afternoon to you. It feels like the transit took a rather long time for you. I am Jacklyn Aston, and I make sure supplies and your payment gets to you."

She looks right at one of the arriving Magical Girls, "Oh, hello Avalanche. Last mission went well I take it?"

A Fairy warrior standing on the roof of a truck waves to the arrivals, "Bless your brave hearts. I am so happy to see all of you!"

Mina shivered under her parka. "It's frigid out here, maybe we should move inside?"

 

[Cmd. Frost]

The teleportation interrupts Hanna's concentration, causing her to miss time her jump and send Doom Guy plummeting into lava half way through the level's tightrope section. Hanna lets out an annoyed sigh as she quits her game and glares out at the surrounding area behind her mask.

(Damn, and I was making good time too.)

A smirk forms on Hanna's face at the girl's words that almost immediately disappears as the cold creeps in.

(Knew I should've listened to her, this jackets not doing anything.)

Wanting to get somewhere warmer as fast as possible, Hanna adjusts her bag, unlocks her chair's wheels and starts rolling towards the truck.

 

[catDreaming]

"Frigid, and humid? Recipe for a bad time right here." Schut zipped up her windbreaker with a shiver, before hefting her bag. "I look forward to getting to know the crew."

 

[Mellithae]

After glancing around at the others, Pandora sighs and releases her transformation. It seems safe enough here and her sword gets awkward if she has nothing to use it for. Especially if she has to carry other things too.

Then she flinches sharply as the chilly air freezes over. I probably should have left it up a little longer.

"Oops," she whispers, hastily wrapping herself in her coat. Her voice still shivers as she continues, "Should not have done that."

"Oh!" the Fairy atop the truck tries to stand a bit taller.


She points towards the wind. Those with a sense for magic felt her push a fair amount of wind magic into the surroundings. Even without mystic senses the change from audible wind to still air is clearly at her command.

"I can't make it warm. It may still feel warmer." she says, "Please call me Feather. What are your names?"

Ms Aston crosses her arms, "You should explain why they're here."

Feather shrinks back down, "Oh, could you please do that?"

Aston points a thumb towards Feather, "I'm paying you to do what she says. Let me know if you think she's gone crazy."

The sharp eyesight of a transformed Magical Girl can catch how the Fairy's eyes widen.

"oh, oh, Please give me a moment!"

 

[Cmd. Frost]

Hanna looks at the fairy, thoroughly unimpressed. When she gets close to Aston, Hanna stops her chair and digs into her bag, pulling out a tablet after a moment of searching. After unlocking it and opening a text program she types out a message and then shows it to Aston.

"Cutting the wind chill is nice and all, but a building would be nicer. Why are we still standing out here in the snow, again?"

Melia glanced around briefly, before focusing on the fairy speaking to them

"I can't make it warm. It may still feel warmer." she says, "Please call me Feather. What are your names?"

"Molten Bond, and this is Hálogi. I can warm you up if you want, though I can't promise it will be painless."

 

[Naron]

Walking out into the cold, Olivia shivered a little; a bit colder than London, though the weather was not as shit. Being transformed and hardy helped shake off the chill.

And there was a familiar face already, though Olivia forgot her name before she introduced herself.

She looks right at one of the arriving Magical Girls, "Oh, hello Avalanche. Last mission went well I take it?"

"Fucking zombies," was her only comment. "Again." Jacklyn should understand her meaning just fine. At least cleanup duty paid well for little risk to herself.

Some others went on about the cold, one girl committed the classic blunder of detransforming, and then the one Fairy present saved them from the freezing wind. Now Olivia was more or less content.

"Please call me Feather. What are your names?"

"Avalanche. Nice to meet you, Feather." She threw the Fairy an encouraging grin, then waited for everyone to introduce themselves.

Before she got to chat with anyone however, someone else kept on whining.

Now stop being a pussy and give everyone a minute to get used to the area, we'll be up and going soon enough. Maybe the big guy can give you a hug for warmth in the meantime?" she quipped with a nod to the lava golem Molten Bond just introduced.

Mina turned and squinted at the blonde girl in annoyance. "Oh I'm sorry, did you want to stand around making small talk out here on the jump platform in the snow? There's a time and a place for introductions and mission briefings, and right here is not it."

She did sidle closer to to lava golem though, as the heat he put off helped cut the chill.

-and huffed, her breath coming out as fog. "Not saying you're wrong," she admitted easily, "but from my own experience, this kind of transit is disorienting the first few times. Might be cold, but I'd rather take a breath first. Maybe take in the area for a minute." She paused there to follow her own advice, admiring the fields of undisturbed snow one would never get to see in a city before piping up again. "But yeah, we really should get going."

Considering the yet unnamed girl's earlier response, Olivia left the line of being the change she wanted to be unsaid. She rather started herding the younger girls to the truck, pushing some cheer into her voice. "Let's load up and see where we're headed, ladies!"

Aston nods at the movement towards a truck.

"Mr. Williams, please open the trailer." she says, "We may have a few minutes to wait. There was a message about a plus one that we wanted to be off-Earth for the moment."

"Chief, the platform console is in that trailer." one of the soldiers, presumably Williams, chimes in.

"Why does... hmm. Lock the controls and toss a sheet over it." Aston taps her chin.

One of the other soldiers runs to the other truck while Williams unlocks the trailer of the other. He climbs inside, takes a large cloth offered by the runner, and works inside for a a few seconds.

As he jumps out Aston waves a hand towards the open truck, "I doubt your big friend can fit inside, the rest of you should if you're friendly."

She looks over the wheelchair for an instant, then goes back to crossing her arms and staring at Feather.

Hanna puts her tablet back in her bag and rolls over to the truck, nodding at Aston as she passes while wondering how to get into the vehicle. As Hanna rolls up to the truck she sees that while the truck does have a loading platform, said platform raised, and the controls for are also out of her reach.

(Damnit.)

Seeing that she was already on the way, Olivia noticed the waving girl right quick. A glance at the truck revealed the issue as well. "Yeah, can't have that," she muttered mostly to herself, slinging her duffel bag over her shoulder and fastening her step.

Standing before the wheelchair-bound girl, she smiled down at her. "Hey there, I'll give you a lift. Just hold on tight for a moment."

Once she was certain the girl did so, Olivia reached under the contraption; she made sure nothing would fall of or flip, then she bend her knees. A single motion lifted the girl onto the truck, wheelchair and all; Olivia then climbed inside herself, what few armor plates she had clanking against the metal, still smiling. "There we go."

"It's no problem, don't worry. Nice to meet you, Vex." Olivia offered her hand to the other girl, quietly wondering if a crippled mute would be up for what lay ahead; then again, Magical Girls came in all flavours, so she decided to withhold judgement until later.

Schut headed over to the truck, pausing until Hanna and Olivia were both inside before climbing inside herself. "Doing something like that casually? Bet you've got some muscle underneath that armor of yours too. Name's Counting Shots. Nice to meet ya Vex, Avalanche."

Mina hopped into the back of the truck and sat down again one of the walls.

"Okay, that's better." Flipping down the hood of her coat, she smiled at the other girls in the truck. "Hi, I'm Mina. Spellblade professionally."

 

[Cmd. Frost]

Vex smiled and shook Avalanche's hand, then went back to typing.

Nice to meet you three. And I know what you're all thinking but I promise, I'm a lot better in a fight than I look. I would've come transformed but it's easier to carry my stuff this way and I figured you should know my situation sooner rather than later.

 

[Naron]

Olivia threw a casual grin to Counting Shots over the comment, then nodded at Spellblade. After that, she read what Vex typed and gave the girl's shoulder a gentle pat. Then she got curious. "So... can you move normally while transformed? Or speak?"

 

[Mellithae]

Pandora spends a few seconds too long worrying over whether to reenter her transformation, then dashes over to the join the others in the truck. "Dropping my transformation was a mistake," she groans, still pulling her coat tighter. "Sleeping Sky, if it matters."

Olivia threw a casual grin to Counting Shots over the comment, then nodded at Spellblade. After that, she read what Vex typed and gave the girl's shoulder a gentle pat. Then she got curious. "So you can move normally while transformed? Can you speak, too?"

"Fair enough. Good to know, though."

Olivia then imitated Vex's wave to Sleeping Sky. The other Magical Girl's comment about detransforming got her thinking, though; there was obviously magic keeping them somewhat warm while transformed, but she still adored her dress. Mainly because it was a proper dress and not half fetish wear like some other girls got. Thank goodness for only getting her powers after she grew out of the phase where frilly, sparkly shit excited her... then again, that was ten years ago.
