For beings so powerful that shaping whole living worlds can be considered a hobby, entertainment can be hard to come by. That said, among the community of gods powerful enough to create whole worlds, also known as Genesii, one of the more popular forms of entertainment was competitive worldbuilding.

Most often, this was in the form of a tournament, with the winner receiving respect and admiration from their fellow Genesii, along with several Genesii temporarily incarnating into the worlds they built simply to admire the place. One such tournament, known as the Grand Open was getting ready for its millionth round when one particular Genesii noticed a loophole in the rules, namely that there were no limits on the number of Genesii that could be on a given team, and there was nothing prohibiting more team members from joining once the tournament was started.

Considering that they had previously been rejected from several teams on account of 'not having a history of acclaimed work' and other elitist shite, this particular Genesii had a pretty powerful motive to exploit said loophole. Thus, they gathered up everyone they could find who wanted to participate in a tournament but had been told they couldn't, and marched their de facto army of Genesii to the registration office of the Grand Open to sign on for the tournament. There were countless protests among the more conventional teams that such a massive team distorted the tournament out of all fairness, but the mob merely countered that if they were 'common rabble incapable of true art', then the extra numbers shouldn't present any issues.

The tournament authorities themselves were actually slightly in favor of taking these elitists down a peg, but it wasn't like they could be seen officially taking sides in such a matter. Thus, the new team was quickly signed on, but it was still lacking one thing. Namely, the new team needed a name. Hurriedly, the mob of Genesii bounced ideas around, before they eventually settled on naming their team the...

Tournament Rules
-Any number of teams which is divisible by two may compete.
-The tournament is arranged into heats, during which each team will have exactly one match with every other team.
-At the end of each heat, half of the teams with the lowest win/loss ratios are eliminated
--If the number of teams at the end of a heat is odd, the number of teams eliminated will be rounded up so that the next heat will be divisible by two
-After the end of the first heat, no new teams can join
-At the end of the tournament, the only team not eliminated shall be declared the winner.

During a Match
-Each match shall be assigned a theme; worlds created must match this theme.
-Each team gets to start each match with a standard copy of earth without any sapients; no need to start from complete scratch.
-Scoring is based on a three-factor system; whichever team has the higher score at the end of a match wins.
--The level of detail and creativity that the world presents from an outerverse perspective awards up to ten points.
--The quality of adventure a Genesii can experience by incarnating as a character in your world awards up to ten points.
--How well the created world matches the theme is applied as a percentage multiplier, ranging from 100% to 0%.
-Each team shall have five outerverse weeks (five turns) to construct their world.
-The piece of in-universe timeline that each team produces must be at least 200 years in duration, but may be longer.
-Sabotage is permitted solely in the form of adding elements to the opponent's world, or moderately altering ones that are already present. Removing elements from your opponent's world, or altering them to the point of being unrecognizable, is not permitted.
quest Mechanics
This is a Riot Quest, which means that each player controls their own character, and gets to vote on what actions they undertake; the more characters pile on a given action, the bigger the bonus it gets. Effectively, this is a Quest where you, the playerbase, are effectively playing as the whole team. Please be aware that all actions that receive votes will be performed, if not downvoted.

Speaking of which, each player also gets a downvote they can use each turn to dissuade ill-advised actions, but it should be made known that a downvote is worth one third of a normal vote.

Anyway, actions are divided into four types, listed below. Each character has four stats, which can give a bonus to the matching action type.
-Structure: These actions have to do with the non-living portions of worldbuilding; stuff like major landmarks, laws of physics, magic systems, and celestial bodies.
-Ambiance: These actions have to do with the large-scale dynamic parts of your world; ecosystems, societies, commonly used technologies/magic, that sort of thing. Please be aware that sufficiently complex Ambiance can start to develop additional complexity on its own, as societies make various shifts, technology is developed, that sort of thing.
-Fates: These actions have to do with one of a kind legends that you might add to a world; fabled heroes and villains, legendary items of great power, major events that you can plunk down on the timeline, that sort of thing.
-Skulduggery: The sabotage stat; this is used for both sneaking over to the opposing team to spy on/tamper with their stuff, and preventing them from doing the same.

For each action of a given type a character takes part in, they gain 1 XP in the relevant skill. Five XP bumps them up one skill level. When creating a character, you get three skill ranks to distribute between skills as you see fit.

NOTE: It's perfectly possible to tamper with the earlier phases of your world's defined history after working on a later one; you aren't limited by linear in-universe time.

ANOTHER NOTE: Yes, you can create gods of whatever you want in-setting, but they won't be on-par with Genesii.

Each action has a hidden DC, and is rolled as 1d20+(number of participants)+(number of relevant skill ranks).

example character: geraldine
Player: @I just write
Backstory: A relatively young Genesii, Geraldine is a mere thousand years old, and has just graduated from Genesii primary education. She had been having a blast with her school's competitive worldbuilding league, and thought that she'd still be able to do that once she was considered an adult. Cue her surprise and disappointment at being told 'no' every time she tried to join a team. Eventually, she heard about the plot to bash a massive team of all the misfits into the Grand Open, and signed on in a heartbeat.
Personality: Geraldine is very passionate and often likes to create simply for the sake of doing so. That said, she also rather enjoys getting a chance to show people the things she has made, and one of the best ways to get lots of people interested in your worldbuilding projects is to show them off in a tournament. Geraldine constantly maintains that she's not a vindictive person, but she's lying to both herself and everyone around her.
Preferred Appearance: Geraldine has a bad habit of shape-shifting whenever she gets bored of her current looks, but she often uses feminine humanoids with a cell-shaded art style as her preferred appearance.

[X] Legion

First time I've really done a Riot Quest so I don't know if I did that correctly.

*awkwardly scratches back of head* You ever have one of those moments where you impulsively do something only to realize it was a terrible idea a few hours later? Yeah, that's the general situation with this Quest. Sorry folks, show's over.

That feeling when you are in the middle of your application for a quest, only for it to be cancelled.
