(D&D 5e) Darkness Rising (Full)

And here we see Sovalen's brand of arrogant dickery, part logic and part lack of politeness.

@Vagabond422
So I want to run to the southwest to try to cut off the last person. I'd also like to keep alert to detect that person, but also being stealthy (traveling alone I can be stealthy at a normal pace) so he doesn't detect me first. How would this work?

Roll a stealth and then roll a perception, if the perception roll is lower than your passive, then use your passive perception.

Did anyone try waking Ira up yet? :p

Valerian would be pretty useless at talking to this guy even if he was there...:lol

@Vagabond422
About how long / far has Valerian run? Is this another clearing, or still woody?

Would it be appropriate to check for any tracks matching the ones from before, and/or listen to see if it sounds like the wildlife has been disturbed by anyone passing through recently?

I'd say around 120ft, it's still pretty thick forest and given the figure's headstart it's entirely possible that they out ran you.

Yes you could, give me a survival check. I'll add the result to my IC post.

@MrGazzer Ouch, that's rather dark. Realistic about the arrow removal, I guess? I had considered writing something very, very similar about Valerian's wound earlier when it was healed, but decided to skip on the details in order to keep things... clean (pun intended! :D)

Quiz spends a good deal of his time in a dark and cutthroat business.

@Vagabond422
1) While Valerian is talking with this woman, is she making any attempt to hide or continue to run?
2) How far has the owl gone / what is the window of opportunity to have her recall it (or how long until it is out of bow show range)?
3) Are we still in combat, or can I make as many insight / perception checks that I want? (i.e., check if she's being honest about surrendering / insight into her relationship with the man, check if she's stalling for somebody else to meet her, confirm suspicious owl behavior is suspicious, etc.)

1. While she is in full cover Valerian hears no movement from her.
2. It is about 60ft. away from Valerian and he has one round to take a shot at it, after that it will be 180ft away and it's a tiny creature. No amount of sharp shooting will help.
3. They are still in combat so I will allow you to only choose one insight check.

To clarify, next round the shot is still possible, but the round after that it isn't?

Round 1: *current round*, Valerian will talk (probably ask her to call it back) / do insight checks.
Round 2: If she doesn't call the owl back, Valerian still has a shot?
Round 3: By this time Valerian no longer has a shot and the owl escapes?

Just want to double check my understanding of the timeline before writing it up, thanks!
