First Multi-Dimentional Budokai!

Hm?

Oh, I see.

Yeah, I'm currently waiting for the train to college, so... I might reboot this. Later. As a Dragon Ball RP. Or an Oath Sign.

Huh. Well I actually was suggesting we continue where we left off. However, this site is sorely missing a proper, in-universe Dragon Ball RP. The closest one was Dragon Ball Chronicles (my first proper roleplay), which died at the tail end of 2015.

Every time I've tried to suggest a Dragon Ball RP on this site, no-one's picked it up. It's quite odd really. It's such a huge franchise, why is the only DBZ game on the site a multicrossover arena?

Because balance in that game would be really hard. Most of the important characters are casual planetbusters, remember.

The actual series manages just fine.
When casual planetbusting is something anyone who matters can do it's no longer a big thing. That and they just don't do that and rather fight at more local scale when necessary.

That being said I am unlikely to join a DB RP. I joined this game exactly due to the multi-cross tournament aspect.

Actually, Dragon Ball Chronicles did a pretty good job balancing out the cast. New players got a PL boost to account for missing training, there were training timeskips in-between battle events to better advance PL, and they had ways of allowing the cast to keep up with the big boys.

My Android character got major upgrades and equipment over the course of the RP and devised new techniques (and if the first arc actually finished he would have gotten an upgrade that brought him up to SS level permanently), humans had a hidden transformation of their own (weird I know), Saiyans got SS (because of course), Arcosians had their forms locked due to a Dragon Ball wish, and Majins had absorption and the evil twin thing.

That doesn't help when most people on this sight get salty at the drop of a hat.

There's always something a person can do even if their power level is fairly weak. My main, the Android, had a hacking utility and used it to spectacular (and hilarious) effect even when he wasn't fighting. I made him use CARAMELLDANSEN as a sonic weapon and neutralized an entire army of robots by making them perform the dance! I also stole tons of information from the PTO and hacked another robot player to stop attacking me. He wasn't the best in terms of raw firepower, but he was an effective utility character who could hold his own in combat.

And also, Dragon Ball need not be balanced. Somebody has to hold off the grunts while the hero faces their leader, and somebody has to be there to provide equipment, plot devices, information, or upgrades. There's totally room for a Bulma-like character or the Guardian of Earth.

True...

I'm going to get farther in F&S first, though.

If you guys want I could start a roleplay. Though I'm pretty busy these days so I miiight need a couple of moderators for the thread while I'm not there. PM me if you want to be a moderator, and rate or reply if you would be interested. A lot of what I do is little based on numbers, and more based on literary and intelligent argument. You start out with a character sheet, one per player, which lists all of the abilities that you would use in the RP. YOU DON'T POST THIS DIRECTLY ON THE THREAD; instead, you PM Each Moderator/GameMaster the sheet. I will list who the GMs are publicly on the thread. Doing a roleplay this way is much more interesting, because you have to actually investigate who other player-characters and nonplayer-characters are. It's a little more personalized.

I'm not a fan of roleplays where all you do is fight- you don't even know "Why is this fight happening?" "Why are the fighters countering eachother's moves so much?" "Have these characters even met eachother before?"

Fellow folk who want to be Moderators/GMs, I will take the time to plot a small storyline with a couple of sideplots. I'll give you the details of the world we are on, the people on it, descriptions, etc. However, I will be expecting feedback from you for plot and subplot ideas. My brain can only come up with so much.

Production of this roleplay will start after 15 likes, and at least one PM. Otherwise it will not happen. Get your friends involved! The more the merrier!

[EDIT]
Oh, and Mr. Wolf, I would greatly appreciate your help in accomplishing this if people are interested. It's always great to have someone to bounce ideas off of.

Personally I'd be more in support of a "Multi-Cross" adventures RP or anything similar. There are a couple of quite succesful ones of that in other sites, I can especially mention SV's predecessor with that.

I like the secret character profiles idea. There's just one issue that unless you pick a seriously obscure character all it takes just a google search for anyone else to know who's this about. Granted, it usually doesn't give a truly comprehensive list on what he can exactly do. You can try hiding your name and it works for certain characters but not for the most.
Granted, OOC information is one thing and the characters still need to investigate the other in IC to know more.

I don't see any problem with this.

What kind of fandom is it? Is it original? Multicross? One-universe? And what universe does it take place in if it's the latter?

That shall be determined. Quite possibly original. I'm not a huge fan of multicross universes because it can be...well ^~^... quite confusing and hard to follow if there are people roleplaying that don't understand the world with people who do. So in all likeliness, I would be throwing you all into a unique world that none of you will be familiar with. Once again, giving all the players a chance to do some investigation on the world. Also, I should probably mention the way information transfer works...
...so picture this...
Character x discovers a database of information about a creature or place in the world - The information won't get put up publicly for all the players to see, because it isn't common knowledge. The player who gains such information will be given it directly via PM. Only Character x who discovered the information will know about it until he/she explains it to other player-characters in his/her own words. This method allows for more player interaction, and group investigation.

So, basically, an Oath Sign?

Of sorts, ehhh yes.

(I shall return this evening after 5pm EST.)
I am not that familiar with Oath Sign.
Does it mean we would be using actual fictional characters but in an original setting?
Or that we use original characters in an original setting?

Oath Sign.

A set of legendary RPs which started over on SpaceBattles. Originally, it was the people playing as a group of SIs running around the Fifth Grail War.

As time went on, it evolved. Now, an "Oath Sign" involves a bunch of characters dumped into a certain setting(like, say, The Dresdin Files{Oh, good idea, brain!}) and have to complete tasks given to them by a ROB.

Otay, so fellas? Are ya interested? I should probably advertise it.

Oh, yeah. This will be an IC Roleplay, not an OOC. Probably should have mentioned that.

Thread Kickstarter has been posted.

*looks at Oath Sign you made*

*realizes that it takes place in MLP*

Yeah, no. Not my thing. I did take part in a TCB roleplay, but only because it was heavily-inspired by XCOM, and even that I found highly embarrassing. I don't wish to be associated with the fandom in any way, period. I've never even watched the show.

I understand we all have the things we like, but why would you pick something as divisive as MLP? You do realize that a good 70% or more of the forum (including me) will be too scared of the stigma attached to the series to bother, right?

I should mention that I'm not judging you or the series, I'm just pointing out that it seems like it could seriously cut down on the number of applicants, even though SV and SB do have a healthy amount of bronies.

<_< >_> ...I may also be a little upset that I can't try out an Oath Sign this time around.

Two reasons:
One- For all of the Jetstream Sam memes I can do, and
Two- to see the PCs fuck everything, forever.

Those is literally the only reasons I did this. That, and I don't think a Mega Man Star Force one would work due to reasons.

Why not Mega Man Classic? Or Mega Man X? Or Mega Man Zero? Or Mega Man ZX? Or goddamn Battle Network? There were other options. Also, what the hell does Jetstream Sam have to do with MLP?

My main annoyance is that I'm left out. I mean, now that people are involved, it's best to keep it open, but...I'm really, really not willing to associate myself with a show about magical talking ponies. I get that the possibilities would be entertaining, but it's really not my thing.

EDIT: I was expecting and hoping to be able to play the game you created, and I can't. That's the source of my frustration pretty much. It's not the end of the world, but it's still annoying.

I'm noticing a disturbing trend: You seem to misuse the Funny rating constantly, to the point where sometimes it can actually offend the ratee, such as when I made a blunder in your Jojo/Bleach RP OOC thread. There was nothing funny about what I said from my perspective.
